Cozy Witch Finger Pretzel Rods: Easy White Chocolate Treat

witch finger pretzel rods - featured image

These salty-sweet pretzel rods are dipped in green-tinted white chocolate and topped with an almond ‘fingernail’ for a spooky Halloween treat that wins over skeptics. Quick to make with simple ingredients, they’re perfect for parties or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 standard 12-ounce bag pretzel rods (about 20 rods)
  • 2 cups white chocolate chips (about 12 ounces)
  • 20 whole sliced almonds (one per pretzel rod)
  • A few drops green gel food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional, for smoother melting)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lay out pretzel rods and count out one sliced almond per rod.
  2. Melt white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth. Stir in coconut oil if using.
  3. Add one drop of green gel food coloring and stir. Add more drops if needed for a sickly green color.
  4. Dip each pretzel rod into the melted chocolate, leaving about an inch undipped at the top (the ‘palm’ area). Let excess drip off, then place on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. While chocolate is still wet, gently press one sliced almond onto the tip of each pretzel rod, letting it stick out slightly like a fingernail. Use a toothpick to adjust if needed.
  6. Transfer about 2 tablespoons of remaining green chocolate to a zip-top bag, snip a tiny corner, and pipe thin lines across each pretzel rod just below the almond for knuckle wrinkles, plus squiggly lines along the length for veins.
  7. Refrigerate the baking sheet for at least 15 minutes, or until chocolate is completely firm.
  8. Optional: add a tiny dab of red gel food coloring at the base of each ‘fingernail’ for a blood effect.

Notes

White chocolate burns easily; melt in short bursts. Work in small batches if slow to prevent chocolate from setting. Use whole sliced almonds for best fingernail shape. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days; freeze for up to 2 months.
