This Creamy Loaded Buffalo Chicken Dip with Ranch Drizzle is the ultimate crowd-pleaser—thick, creamy, and perfectly spicy, with a cool ranch drizzle that balances the heat. Ready in about 30 minutes, it’s the perfect appetizer for game days, parties, or any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup buffalo sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot Original)
  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken (rotisserie chicken recommended)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (for ranch drizzle)
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 packet (1 oz) dry ranch seasoning mix

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray or butter.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and 1/2 cup sour cream with an electric hand mixer on medium speed until smooth, light, and fluffy (about 2 minutes). Scrape down the sides of the bowl.
  3. Add the buffalo sauce, garlic powder, and a pinch of black pepper. Mix on low speed until well combined.
  4. Add the shredded chicken, 1 cup of the sharp cheddar cheese, 1/2 cup of the Monterey Jack cheese, and the chopped green onions (reserve a small handful for garnish). Stir with a rubber spatula or wooden spoon until evenly distributed. Taste and adjust salt and pepper if needed.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread into an even layer.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese and remaining 1/4 cup Monterey Jack cheese evenly over the top.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until hot and bubbly and the cheese on top is melted and lightly golden. For a browner top, broil for 1-2 minutes, watching carefully.
  8. While the dip bakes, make the ranch drizzle: In a small bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup sour cream, buttermilk, and dry ranch seasoning mix until smooth. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  9. Let the dip cool for about 5 minutes after baking. Drizzle the ranch dressing over the top in a zigzag pattern. Garnish with reserved green onions and extra buffalo sauce if desired. Serve immediately with your favorite dippers.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature cream cheese and shred your own cheese from a block. Avoid using a slow cooker for the initial cooking as it can make the dip watery. The dip can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance (without the ranch drizzle) and refrigerated; add 5-10 minutes to baking time if starting from cold.
