Easy Limoncello Spritz: The Perfect 5-Minute Celebration Drink

limoncello spritz - featured image

This isn’t your average spritz. It’s perfectly balanced – bright, almost tart lemon flavor from the limoncello gets cut by dry, bubbly prosecco, and soda water lightens everything up. A splash of elderflower liqueur adds a subtle, floral note that makes it taste like sunshine in a glass.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 oz (90 ml) Limoncello
  • 3 oz (90 ml) Prosecco (Brut, dry)
  • 1–2 oz (30–60 ml) Soda water or club soda
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) Elderflower liqueur (optional but highly recommended)
  • Ice (large cubes preferred)
  • Garnish: lemon slice, mint or thyme sprig, or edible flowers (optional)

Instructions

  1. Chill your glass in the freezer for 10 minutes, or fill with ice water while prepping, then dump out.
  2. Fill the chilled glass with ice (large cubes preferred).
  3. Pour 3 oz (90 ml) limoncello over the ice. If using, add 0.5 oz (15 ml) elderflower liqueur. Swirl to chill.
  4. Slowly pour 3 oz (90 ml) prosecco over the back of a bar spoon or into the center of the glass to preserve bubbles.
  5. Top with 1-2 oz (30-60 ml) soda water. Gently stir a few times with a bar spoon.
  6. Garnish with a lemon slice, lemon peel twist, or a sprig of mint or thyme. Serve immediately.

Notes

The golden ratio is 3 oz limoncello, 3 oz prosecco, 1-2 oz soda. Adjust to taste. Use large ice cubes to prevent dilution. For a party, batch the limoncello and elderflower in a pitcher, add prosecco just before serving, and let guests add their own soda and ice. The elderflower liqueur is optional but highly recommended for a floral note.
