These spooky mummy hot dog bites are a quick and easy Halloween snack made with just four ingredients. Wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough with mustard eyes, they’re a fun, crowd-pleasing treat that brings back childhood memories.

  • 1 can (8-count) crescent roll dough (Pillsbury or store brand, seamless sheet preferred)
  • Yellow mustard (for the eyes)
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened (optional, for extra tangy flavor)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a cutting board. If using perforated dough, press the seams together gently to form one solid sheet.
  3. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the dough lengthwise into thin strips about 1/4 inch wide (about the width of a pencil). You should get 12-15 strips per sheet.
  4. Pat the hot dogs dry with a paper towel. If using cream cheese, spread a very thin layer on each hot dog.
  5. Take a strip of dough and wrap it around a hot dog at a slight angle, leaving a small gap near the top for the face (about half an inch). Overlap the strips slightly as you go down. Use 2-3 strips per hot dog. Do not wrap too tightly.
  6. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about an inch between each one.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown on the edges and the hot dogs are heated through.
  8. Let cool for about 2 minutes. Using a toothpick or the tip of a knife, dab two small dots of mustard on each mummy for eyes.
  9. Serve immediately while warm.

For best results, use beef hot dogs for a snappy texture. Add mustard eyes after baking to prevent drying. If dough strips break, let dough sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before cutting.
