Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium cantaloupe
  • 2 cups green grapes, washed and dried
  • 2 cups red grapes, washed and dried
  • 2 cups strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 2 cups apple slices (Honeycrisp or Fuji recommended)
  • 1 cup blueberries, washed
  • 1 cup blackberries, washed
  • Optional: 1 cup pear slices, 1 cup mandarin orange segments, or other seasonal fruit
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (Fage or Chobani recommended)
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon orange zest

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cantaloupe pumpkin: Wash the cantaloupe. Place it on a cutting board with the stem end up. Cut off the top quarter to create a lid. Scoop out all seeds and stringy pulp using a melon baller or spoon.
  2. Carve the pumpkin face: Cut small triangles for eyes (about 1 inch wide), a small triangle for the nose, and a zigzag or crescent shape for the mouth (2-3 inches wide).
  3. Make the honey yogurt dip: In a small bowl, combine Greek yogurt, honey, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk until smooth and creamy. Adjust sweetness or thickness as desired.
  4. Prepare the fruit: Wash and dry all fruit thoroughly. Hull strawberries and halve if large. Slice apples into thin wedges (about 8 per apple). Toss apple slices in lemon juice to prevent browning if desired.
  5. Assemble the tray: Place the hollowed cantaloupe in the center of a serving platter. Set the bowl of dip inside the cantaloupe cavity. Arrange fruit around the cantaloupe in a colorful pattern. Place the cantaloupe lid at an angle on top of the dip bowl.
  6. Final touches: Add extra fruit around the base to hide the bowl edge. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 4 hours.

Notes

Choose a cantaloupe that gives slightly at the stem end and smells sweet. Dry fruit thoroughly to prevent soggy tray. Dip can be made a day ahead for better flavor. For a vegan version, use coconut yogurt and agave nectar. If cantaloupe wobbles, cut a thin slice off the bottom to create a flat surface.
