Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 slices pepperoni (standard size)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 812 oz assorted cheeses (sharp cheddar, provolone, brie or goat cheese)
  • 4 oz salami or soppressata, sliced thin
  • ½ cup mixed olives (green or kalamata)
  • 1 cup grapes (red or green)
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes
  • ½ cup pickles or cornichons
  • ½ cup nuts (almonds or cashews)
  • 2 cups crackers or crostini
  • Honey or fig jam for drizzling
  • Fresh herbs (rosemary or thyme) for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded mozzarella, garlic powder, dried oregano, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until smooth.
  2. Lay out a single slice of pepperoni on a clean cutting board. Spread about 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture evenly across the slice, leaving a small border around the edges.
  3. Roll the pepperoni up tightly, starting from one end. Pinch the ends slightly to taper them, shaping it like a mini football. Repeat with remaining slices. Secure with toothpicks if needed.
  4. Slice cheeses into bite-sized cubes or thin wedges. Fold or roll salami slices into ribbons or triangles.
  5. Place small ramekins of olives, honey, and jam on the board. Arrange pepperoni footballs in one section, cheeses in another, and meats in a third.
  6. Fill gaps with grapes, cherry tomatoes, pickles, and nuts. Add crackers around the edges. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
  7. Drizzle honey over soft cheese or scatter extra herbs. Serve immediately, or cover loosely and refrigerate for up to 2 hours. Let sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Let cream cheese soften completely for easy spreading. Don’t overfill pepperoni footballs—use about 1 teaspoon of filling each. Keep wet ingredients (pickles, olives) away from crackers to prevent sogginess. Pepperoni footballs can be made up to 24 hours in advance and stored in the fridge.
